Diaphone II

A Modernist Tapestry, after designs by Yves Millecamps, made at the workshop of Francois Pinton, Aubusson, France. Circa 1972.
Signed: Millecamps. A unique piece.

12ft 9in x 6ft 4in  :  389cm x 194cm
Provenance: The Sheraton Hotel, Paris.

Millecamps, born in 1930 at Armentieres, Northern France, started with painting and sculpture and exhibited his first tapestry work in 1960 at the 10th Salon d’Art.

The present tapestry was commissioned for the Hotel Sheraton, Paris, Montparnasse in 1972. It is based on the earlier Diaphone I of 1966, though this was a smaller weaving. The Mobilier National, Paris, have in their collection of modernist tapestries a Millecamps piece, Centate of 1962.
His work, though derived from a constructive view of the industrial world of machinery, transforms to another world of fiction, of relationships between light, colour and form.
Price : £ P.O.A.
